Division of two families and control of the result using Apivox Smart Monitor.

The weather is warm, the temperature is about +26C, the bees work well. On examination, I decided to make offshoots from both families. E5 was made from the E4 family, E3 was made from the E6 family. In the family E4, the queen was left, and 4 frames of sealed brood with bees and 3 sealed queen cells were transferred to offshoot. Moreover  frames with honey have been added to both families. In the E6 family, open brood was left, and the queen was transferred with 4 frames of sealed brood to E3. Honey frames were added to both hives.

After some time, the control of the feeling of queenlessness in E3 and E5 was carried out. The result was expected. The offshoot with the queen was completely calm and did not feel queenless at all. The chart is located as far down as possible in the white zone. At the same time, in offshoot with queen cells, they felt the loss of the queen, but since there were queen cells in E5, this sensation faded quickly, although there were some bursts of this sensation in a small part of the bees.

After that, a comparative control of the general condition in E5 and E6 was carried out in the evening. The difference is noticeable. In E5, the heating is stronger and the work with honey is weaker, although it is there, since the bees have already found the frames with honey set for them. In addition, the presence of emergency heating is visible, since the new colony was given a full body and the brood has to be heated and the necessary microclimate near the queen cells had to be created. In E6, there is strong ventilation and work with honey, as the family worked at the honey collection before it was divided. But in the family there is a strong excitement because she was left without a queen.

Revealing example of diagnostics using Apivox Smart Monitor application

A small but rather revealing example of diagnostics using Apivox Smart Monitor application. Control of 2 families one and a half months after the purchase of the packages. The family E6 is weaker than that in E4, as the bees are infested with viral paralysis. The main honey harvest has begun. Blooming white clover. The control was carried out in the evening. This is not the best time to understand how bees work, but it is a good time to understand the results of honey collection.

Three measurements were made in each family:

1 - in General State Control mode. The diagram of the E4 family shows that work is underway with honey, despite the evening, some bees even fly. At the same time, the diagram of the E6 family shows that the family is mainly doing in-hive works. There are works with honey, but they are not the main ones. Both families have strong ventilation. The water is evaporated from nectar.

2 - in Honey Harvest Readiness Control mode. Both families work for commercial honey, but it can be seen that the graph of the E4 family is in the lowest part of the white zone. This indicates a strong trend for work related to the processing of nectar in honey supers. There are also works in E6, but they are much weaker.

3 - in Swarming Control mode. Both colonies show no swarming trend. At the same time, in a well-functioning E4 family, this can be seen  much better.
